Summer Camp Descriptions
Please take a few minutes to look over what each camp has to offer. All activities will be led by Gasper River Staff, who are trained in all adventure activities, life-guarding, first-aid, and CPR. Each week of camp combines learning about the Catholic faith and experiencing thrilling adventures. Prayerful experiences, such as Stations of the Cross and the Rosary Walk, will add new meaning to each camper's week as they celebrate the Sacraments in God’s creation. This combination of faith, fun, and friends will lead to a deeper understanding and appreciation of the camper’s life-long adventure with God.
Explorer Camp (3rd & 4th graders): Be prepared for an action packed half-week of camp. The Explorer Camper, youth who will be entering the 3rd and 4th grades in the fall, will participate in lessons about their faith mixed in with swimming, arts & crafts, canoeing on the river, hiking, archery, team building games, parachute games, and much more. This is a wonderful opportunity for youngsters to explore what summer camp and their faith is all about.
Expedition Camp (5th & 6th graders): Get set to take a week long expedition in adventure and faith. The Expedition Camper, youth who will be entering the 5th and 6th grades in the fall, will participate in vertical playground, zip-line, low elements, team building games, hiking, archery, canoeing on the river, arts & crafts, and much, much more. In addition, campers will participate in lessons about their faith and adoration! This wonderful expedition will lead campers deeper in their faith.
Quest Camp (7th & 8th graders): This week-long adventure combines learning about your faith and even more exciting adventure opportunities. The Quest Camper, youth who will be entering the 7th and 8th grades in the fall, will participate in rappelling, low elements, giant swing, vertical playground, zip-line, team building games, hiking, archery, canoeing on the river, arts & crafts and so many exciting experiences. Quest campers also get to participate in adoration and the sacrament of Confession. This week of camp will help the youth understand their faith and the exciting quest of living it out.
Camp L.I.F.E. (9th – 12th graders): Live It For Eternity! This week long camp experience provides many opportunities for young men and women, from incoming freshmen to just graduated seniors, to grow as people and to grow closer to God. Large group time, small group time and personal time with God all take place in an ideal setting. These campers will combine their faith with all the activities camp has to offer, such as kayaking and canoeing on the river, rappelling, Jacob's ladder, giant swing, vertical playground, zip-line, low elements, team building games, campfires, skits, and tons more. Campers will also participate in lesson's about their faith, adoration, and the sacrament of Confession. This experience will help any young person live out their faith in ways they never thought possible before.
Called to Love (High School Girls Only): This week-long camp experience is for young women from incoming freshmen to just graduated seniors. This camp seeks to help campers understand how to be young women of Christ in today's world. Through talks, small group time, and prayer experiences, we will discuss what true femininity is, how deeply we are loved by the Father, how to love ourselves and understand our inherent dignity and beauty, how to love others through friendships and relationships, and how to live out our call to love through our vocation. We will also have daily "girl talks" in which we will discuss issues facing girls in today's society and celebrate the sacraments with adoration, confession, and daily mass. We will combine our faith with camp activities, such as kayaking and canoeing in the river, Jacob's Ladder, Giant Swing, Low Elements, Zipline, and more.
Strength & Honor (High School Boys Only):
Eucharistic Life Camp (ages 18+): Come and learn about your faith and put it into practice. This camp, for those 18 years and older, will spend their days helping others in new and exciting ways. Campers will complete service projects at camp and several sites around the city of Bowling Green. Evenings will be spent sharing about the day and learning about their faith. Come to this camp and don't just talk about your faith, but put it into action!
Christmas/New Year's Camp (8th-12th graders): Every December 29th to January 1st, current 8th graders and high schoolers are invited to attend Christmas/New Year's Camp. It's a great way for 8th graders to meet kids they'll be going to Camp Life with next summer, and for High School Campers to reconnect with old friends. This camp is much more laid back than summer camp; campers still do all the activities, celebrate the Sacraments, and have Adoration, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. Registration begins October 1st. This is a great way to end one year, and begin the next!
NEW Camp in 2019!! Camp Life MINI (9th-12th graders): Each year high school aged campers tell us that it gets harder and harder to come to camp because of jobs and other commitments. We’ve developed a new half week of camp (Sunday to Wednesday) designed to give teenagers the ability to come to camp and still be able to keep their commitments back home. Come and experience all that camp has to offer packed into a fun and fast moving camp experience!
